Not All Concrete Companies Are Created Equally
What's the greatest aspect of the concrete industry? Regardless of experience, absolutely anyone can start a concrete business.
Do you know what the worst thing about the concrete industry is? Literally anybody can start a concrete business.
Yep... that's right. Becoming a concrete contractor can be extraordinarily effortless.
Just pick out a brand, buy and rent some tools, watch a few vidoes online, build a website and... poof! You're in the concrete business.
Knowing this one simple fact, it's easy to see how experienced concrete companies will maintain first-rate concrete construction, while others will produce poor quality, sub-standard work.

Was contacted by Hal's Masonry, Inc. a few days ago. They are a local business out of Grayling, Mi - about 20 miles from my location. Owner came out yesterday to size up the job and answer questions. Am currently waiting to receive the job details and written estimate. Initial impression is positive. Owner was knowlegable and responsive. Using your 11-point checklist as a guide, this company seems to meet most of the requirements set forth. Only after the estimate and job details are recieved will I be able to fully rate this company, however. This is the second of two bids put out, so I haven't made a decision at this point.
Positive impression!
Received a prompt call from the owner of "Upon This Rock" concrete contractor. He was very pleasant and professional. Of the three contractors who bid on the job, he was right in the middle. All the contractors I interviewed were qualified and I would have hired any of the three. The contractor I first interviewed was the lower of all three, plus I have witnessed some of the professional and beautiful work he has done... so he got the job. Price and quality... can't ask for more than that.
What more can I ask for!!
