The business owner, Terry Thompson, promptly answered several follow up questions and showed flexibility in adapting the work scope to the home owner's wishes. The crack has been \"growing\" over the past couple of years, and is now one inch wide by one inch deep at its worst area and tapers/narrows to just a surface crack over the lenght of 11 feet. I am looking to get my asphalt driveway re-sealed and any repairs that need to be done. It has been a few years and it is looking bad.
Need to remove and replace existing driveway
I have a 9 year old asphalt driveway that I would like to widen by 10 feet. Is this feasible? Would the existing driveway be ground down and top coated to tie into the newly installed asphalted area? If so, how far should it be ground down (how much top coat would need to be added) so that the surface would be as durable as it is now. BTW, the existing asphalt is in pretty good shape (some minor cracks). Over time, will a seam crack develop where the existing asphalt meets the new part? I\'m in Illinois, so we experience fairly wide temperature changes. If possible, please explain what process would be used to achieve this. Thanks, Steve
